Senior Accountant supporting Ledgebrook’s insurance finance operations, close processes, and US GAAP reporting. Improving accounting controls, systems, and AI-enabled workflows across multiple entities.
Responsibilities
Report directly to the Assistant Controller
Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
Own key components of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure transactions comply with GAAP and company accounting policies
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
Mentor and supervise the Staff Accountant
Assist with accounting policies and procedures
Leverage modern finance tools and AI-based solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting insights
Identify process improvements and automate accounting workflows
Support external audits and prepare supporting schedules and documentation
Assist with implementation and maintenance of the internal control environment
Partner with operations, product, tech, and data teams on ad hoc projects and new business initiatives
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry
Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, specializing in premium recognition, claims and reserves
Familiarity with accounting software
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Workday experience is a plus
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience using AI tools to improve or automate financial processes
Experience implementing or improving finance systems or processes
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a collaborative and fast-paced setting
Authorized to work in the United States or Canada without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
