About the role
- Senior AI engineer developing Machine Learning, GenAI, and Agentic AI solutions for Magna’s automotive engineering processes. Evaluating technologies and guiding R&D innovation from concept through deployment.
Responsibilities
- Develop next-generation AI solutions using Machine Learning, GenAI, and Agentic AI to improve engineering processes
- Address engineering domains including system, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering
- Develop concepts from problem statements and evaluate different solution approaches
- Research and apply state-of-the-art AI techniques
- Mature AI solutions from concept and proof-of-concept through validation and deployment readiness
- Transition solutions successfully to internal customers
- Collaborate with internal customers, engineering teams, universities, and strategic partners from idea to product
- Support R&D engineers and researchers with technical evaluations of technologies considered by Magna
- Conduct scientific deep dives, application analyses, manufacturability assessments, and market and cost evaluations
- Plan, execute, and coordinate R&D programs with internal and external R&D departments, supplier companies, institutions, and academia
- Evaluate technologies and product designs for compliance with scientific and engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, and related specifications
- Support development of innovative components and modules through design engineering, validation, prototyping, testing, production-capable process evaluation, and business-case development
- Support ideation and identify gaps in current product or manufacturing technology
- Analyze engineering results and propose product changes to assess feasibility and improve components, systems, and functional/performance specifications
- Manage innovation projects by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, resolving technical issues, maintaining documentation systems, and preparing progress reports
Requirements
- Master's or higher degree in Engineering, including Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science
- 5 years or more experience, including Ph.D. research and software/ML/GenAI/AI-related industry experience
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
- Solid foundation in machine learning principles, algorithms, and practical applications
- Hands-on experience with machine learning and AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX
- Experience building production-quality APIs, services, data pipelines, and AI applications with generative AI and agentic AI
- Proficient in Python programming and object-oriented programming principles
- Proficient with Git version control, Linux terminal, and Bash scripting
- Engineering domain knowledge experience preferred
- Candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Records Check and, if deemed necessary, a Credit Check
