About the role

  • Lead enterprise architect shaping domain strategy, cloud modernization, and governance for Manulife’s global financial services business. Guiding technology investments and architecture standards across strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve target-state architecture for a business or technology domain
  • Develop multi-year technology roadmaps supporting modernization, cloud adoption, operational resilience, and business growth
  • Establish architecture standards, principles, patterns, and governance processes
  • Lead architecture reviews and provide strategic oversight across large-scale initiatives and programs
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Drive architectural decisions involving cloud platforms, application modernization, integrations, APIs, and data architecture
  • Partner with enterprise architecture teams to assess and adopt new technologies
  • Champion modern engineering practices and architectural excellence
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, regulatory obligations, and governance frameworks
  • Guide architecture decisions across multiple products, applications, and programs
  • Conduct architecture quality reviews and recommend improvements to scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Identify technical debt and modernization opportunities and prioritize investments
  • Collaborate with senior business and technology leaders to translate priorities into technology capabilities and roadmaps
  • Influence investment decisions through architectural direction, technology assessments, and recommendations
  • Build relationships across architecture, engineering, data, security, risk, and operations teams
  • Communicate complex technology concepts to technical and executive audiences
  • Mentor architects, senior developers, and engineering teams
  • Foster innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to enterprise-wide architecture practices and standards

Requirements

  • Experience in application, solution, domain, or enterprise architecture within complex organizations
  • Proven ability to define architecture strategies, target-state roadmaps, and modernization plans
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, application modernization, integrations, APIs, and distributed systems
  • Experience leading architecture governance and guiding large-scale technology initiatives
  • Good understanding of security, risk, compliance, and data privacy requirements
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience working in Agile and product-based delivery environments
  • Experience with LeanIX, ServiceNow, GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, Lucidchart, Jira, and Confluence
  • Preferred: experience in financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries
  • Preferred: experience supporting cloud transformation initiatives across Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Preferred: knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
  • Preferred: experience with AI, automation, and emerging technologies
  • Preferred: relevant architecture, cloud, or technology certifications
