About the role
- Senior Cloud Engineer designing secure, automated Azure cloud platforms for Manulife’s financial-services business. Building Kubernetes, Terraform, APIs, and enterprise integration solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement cloud-based applications and infrastructure solutions
- Build and maintain cloud environments aligned with security and operational standards
- Automate and orchestrate cloud platforms using DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
- Develop and maintain APIs, web services, and integration solutions across enterprise platforms
- Support application deployment, troubleshooting, testing, and continuous integration activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments to drive rapid delivery and innovation
- Research and implement emerging technologies to improve platform performance and engineering efficiency
- Lead cloud engineering best practices and mentor team members on cloud adoption and modernization initiatives
Requirements
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), and Terraform
- Solid knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and BOSH CLI
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development practices
- Hands-on experience building and integrating RESTful APIs, web services, and cloud-native applications
- Familiarity with API Gateways, Messaging, Event Streaming, Distributed Tracing, SQL, and Document Databases
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (nice to have)
- 8+ years of IT experience, including cloud engineering and distributed systems design (nice to have)
- Experience with public, private, or hybrid cloud environments (nice to have)
- Kubernetes and/or HashiCorp certifications (nice to have)
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale PaaS solutions, particularly using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) (nice to have)
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, Desired State Configuration, and cloud platform automation (nice to have)
