About the role
- Project Manager leading $50–100M water and wastewater construction projects for Maple Reinders, a Canadian civil and environmental contractor. Managing budgets, schedules, contracts, teams, quality, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Maple Reinders’ designated representative to the Owner/Client
- Maintain overall responsibility for project profitability, contract compliance, quality, completion, and workplace safety
- Develop successful relationships with clients, consultants, architects, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Manage projects according to Maple Reinders’ processes and procedures
- Mentor Project Coordinators and support their career development
- Support the National Business Development team and assist the Construction Manager with pursuit-phase schedules and final submissions
- Negotiate contracts with owners and their agents
- Develop construction budgets and conduct regular cost projection reviews
- Prepare and update cost-effective project plans and schedules
- Compile and submit initial project budgeting to the Construction Manager
- Select suppliers and sub-trades and obtain quotations
- Negotiate and clarify scope of work with sub-trades and suppliers
- Manage submittals and approvals and review shop drawings
- Establish and manage project administration files and document control
- Implement and update QA/QC on projects
- Ensure timely receipt of progress payments
- Quote and negotiate change orders
- Attend, lead, and prepare for project start-up, progress, and close-out meetings
- Manage project close-out
- Identify construction risks and opportunities and assess site conditions, subcontractor availability, and labour availability
- Manage payment requisitions and change management among Maple, clients, sub-trades, and suppliers
- Administer construction contracts properly
- Emphasize site safety in accordance with regulatory requirements and Maple Reinders’ Health & Safety Policy
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a general contractor
- Experience in Water/Wastewater, Energy projects, and civil infrastructure construction
- A University Degree/Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience
- Professional Designation preferred - P. Eng and/or Gold Seal
- Ability to manage Water/Wastewater projects typically valued at $50–100M
- Knowledge of construction contracts, budgets, schedules, cost projections, change orders, submittals, approvals, shop drawings, document control, QA/QC, payment requisitions, and site safety
- Ability to work in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
