About the role
- Senior Project Manager leading $50–100M water and wastewater construction projects for Maple Reinders, a Canadian civil and environmental construction firm. Managing budgets, contracts, teams, quality, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Maple Reinders’ designated representative to the Owner/Client
- Take overall responsibility for project profitability, contract compliance, quality, completion, and workplace safety
- Manage project teams and/or multiple projects
- Develop relationships with clients, consultants, architects, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Manage projects according to company processes and procedures
- Mentor junior Project Managers and Coordinators
- Support National Business Development and assist with pursuit-phase schedules and final submissions
- Negotiate contracts with owners and their agents
- Develop construction budgets and conduct cost projection reviews
- Prepare and update project plans and schedules
- Compile and submit initial project budgeting
- Select suppliers and sub-trades and obtain quotations
- Negotiate and clarify scopes of work
- Manage submittals, approvals, shop drawings, and project administration files
- Control distribution of drawings and specifications
- Implement and update QA/QC
- Ensure timely progress payments
- Quote and negotiate change orders
- Lead and prepare for project start-up, progress, and close-out meetings
- Manage project close-out
- Identify construction risks, opportunities, site conditions, subcontractor availability, and labour availability
- Manage payment requisitions and changes among Maple, clients, sub-trades, and suppliers
- Administer construction contracts
- Emphasize site safety according to regulatory requirements and corporate Health & Safety Policy
Requirements
- 10 or more years experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a general contractor
- Experience in Water/Wastewater, Energy projects, and civil infrastructure construction
- A University Degree/Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience
- Professional Designation preferred - P. Eng and/or Gold Seal
- Ability to manage Water/Wastewater projects typically valued at $50–100M
- Ability to work in a mix of in-office (Mississauga) and on-site environments
