Responsibilities
- Analyze functional and non-functional requirements and translate them into technical design documents
- Propose and evaluate solution options based on feasibility, scalability, and cost
- Document library upgrade paths
- Design and develop enhancements to existing systems and new solutions
- Modernize legacy applications using automated refactoring tools
- Analyze the root causes of production incidents and deliver fixes, including SQL DDL/DML scripts
- Write unit tests and conduct code reviews
- Commit code to Git in accordance with branching standards
- Ensure compliance with accessibility and official languages requirements
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies, sprint reviews, and knowledge transfer
- Provide production support for critical enterprise Java web applications
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience, acquired within the past 15 years, as an analyst-programmer working on critical, secure, integrated, highly available, multi-tier enterprise Java web applications
- At least 3 years of experience with each of the following technologies: J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, JSP, JMS, AJAX, JavaScript, JUnit, XML, JSON, SQL, SOAP and REST web services, enterprise application servers, and OpenID Connect / OAuth 2
- Experience with Java 11 or later
- At least 3 years of experience working in teams of 3 or more developers
- Professional fluency in spoken and written English
- Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance required
- The following are considered assets: PL/SQL, Oracle 19c, Oracle WebLogic 14c, Struts, Hibernate, iText, and jQuery
- Experience with the Government of Canada, WCAG 2.1 AA, the Web Experience Toolkit (WET), and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security guidelines is considered an asset
- Experience supporting applications in production, Eclipse + Git, the Microsoft ecosystem (.NET/C#, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, SQL Server, Azure DevOps), Python, and PowerShell is considered an asset
