About the role
- Java Engineer building scalable Azure cloud-native applications, APIs, and integrations for Matrix, a global technology services company. Applying Java, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and messaging technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance Java-based applications and RESTful APIs
- Build and deploy scalable cloud-native solutions using Microsoft Azure services
- Develop and manage containerized applications using Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Integrate applications with messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka and MQ
- Develop and support data integration solutions leveraging Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
- Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, integration, and cloud infrastructure issues
- Ensure code quality, security, scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Participate in technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members when applicable
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on Java development experience
- Strong experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns
- Proven experience developing, deploying, and supporting applications within Azure environments
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
- Hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure and services
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized application development
- Experience deploying and managing workloads in Kubernetes environments
- Experience working with event-driven architectures
- Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka
- Strong knowledge of IBM MQ or similar message queuing platforms
- Experience with Azure Databricks or similar big data platforms
- Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Prior experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineers
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
