- Manager overseeing complex accounting, standards implementation, and audits for Minto, a Canadian community builder. Leading technical finance guidance, reporting automation, and team delivery.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Director, Financial Reporting
- Review and analyze complex financial transactions and accounting issues
- Prepare technical memos
- Lead research, analysis, and implementation of new accounting standards and related disclosures
- Serve as a technical advisor across the finance team
- Manage planning, process, and review of complex financial transactions and accounting issues
- Proactively implement new accounting standards
- Provide guidance to business units and finance teams
- Identify accounting issues and recommend process improvements
- Coordinate audits with external auditors for various entities
- Build relationships across business units and finance peers
- Lead change initiatives and support process automation for reporting
- Provide leadership to the team to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reports
- Prioritize work to meet internal and external deadlines
Requirements
- CPA designation required
- 7+ years of progressive technical accounting experience involving IFRS/ASPE
- Experience in public practice and/or real estate is an asset
- Previous experience leading a team of finance professionals
- Strong ability to analyze complex issues and recommend solutions
- Proficiency in IFRS and ASPE with demonstrated technical application
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of ERP systems, including NewStar and Yardi
- Knowledge of consolidation tools; OneStream is an asset
