About the role

Hardware electrical designer creating and validating PCB systems for Miovision’s intelligent transportation products. Managing product evolution, compliance, manufacturing fixtures, and hardware vendors.

Responsibilities

Design modules, subsystems, schematics, and PCB layouts for new products
Manage complex integrated circuits and passive components while meeting schedule and budget targets
Drive updates for in-life products, including supply-chain shortage management, cost reductions, and process improvements
Bring up new hardware and create and execute power-supply and signal-integrity validation plans
Collaborate with Quality to certify products against global regulatory standards, including IC/FCC and PTCRB
Design manufacturing test fixtures with custom cabling and specialized PCBs
Troubleshoot board- and system-level problems
Produce electrical design documentation
Release PCB designs to internal PLM systems and external Contract Manufacturers
Manage hardware vendors
Participate in design reviews and collaborate with Mechanical, Firmware, and Quality teams
Improve hardware tools, libraries, and processes

Experience designing electronics using modern CAD tools
Experience with Altium Designer and Arena PLM, or Cadence, KiCad, or Eagle
Experience debugging and validating PCBs with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and soldering irons
Data-driven technical problem-solving skills
Experience designing multilayer circuit boards, high-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe and USB3, switch-mode power supplies, or microprocessor-based products is an advantage
Comfortable utilizing AI tools such as Gemini, AMP, or Claude for research, analysis, and engineering tool development
Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
Legally eligible to work in either Canada or the United States
Willingness and ability to come into the Kitchener office frequently, with some weeks requiring five days per week
