About the role

  • Lead backend engineer shaping distributed integration services for Movable Ink’s AI-powered marketing personalization platform. Driving architecture, implementation, reliability, and technical mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical vision, system boundaries, and architecture for team-owned services
  • Contribute directly through design, implementation, code review, debugging, and production support
  • Design and implement patterns that facilitate new features
  • Provide technical guidance, unblock engineers, review designs and code, and mentor team members
  • Partner with Engineering Manager and Product to create technical plans, milestones, and incremental delivery paths
  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams on platform integration
  • Ensure integration services reliably operate at scale
  • Set up, schedule, and monitor messages in third-party partner systems
  • Use observability, metrics, traces, logs, alerts, and postmortems to improve system quality
  • Represent the integrations team in architecture discussions and align technical patterns, dependencies, and platform interfaces

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong track record of building and operating backend or platform systems in production
  • Experience with Python and other programming languages
  • Significant experience designing and operating distributed services
  • Strong architectural judgment around stateful services, asynchronous processing, system reliability, and production operations
  • Hands-on technical leadership experience, including unblocking, reviewing, mentoring, and leading complex technical initiatives end-to-end
  • Experience translating ambiguous product goals into pragmatic technical designs and incremental execution plans
  • Familiarity with building 3rd party integrations
  • Understanding of retries, idempotency, backoffs, rate limiting, partial failures, and external monitoring
  • Experience building scalable backend services in cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing, incident response, and on-call responsibilities
  • Clear communication skills and ability to translate technical tradeoffs into practical decisions
  • Collaborative, product-minded approach to platform engineering
