About the role
- Vehicle damage estimator inspecting vehicles and pricing repairs for Manitoba Public Insurance in Brandon, Manitoba. Reviewing estimates, supplements, repairs, and total-loss decisions.
Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles at service/claim centres and satellite estimating locations
- Confirm vehicle damage and prepare estimates using an automated estimating system
- Follow MPI Estimating Standards and Original Equipment Manufacturer repair procedures
- Organize and complete road call estimates for customers and repair facilities
- Review supplements and first estimates submitted by repair facilities
- Review Direct Repair estimates, supplements, and photographs
- Review and approve estimates and supplements for mouse infestation claims, off-road vehicles, recreational vehicles, and motorcycles
- Review and approve claims submitted through the virtual claims file process
- Complete first estimates on commercial vehicles
- Determine whether vehicles are repairable or total losses
- Review completed repairs and authorize additional repairs as required
- Complete documentation supporting claim file decisions, investigations, and legal action
Requirements
- Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) or Certificate of Qualification in Motor Vehicle Body Repairer, Automotive Service Technician, or Truck and Transport Mechanic, plus seven years of bench experience in autobody repair including one year of customer service experience
- OR high school diploma or equivalent, plus ten years of bench experience in autobody repair including one year of customer service experience
- Platinum status in Estimator or Auto Physical Damage Appraiser role within the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals Designation program, or willingness to complete and maintain designation
- Valid driver’s licence
- Overnight travel may be required when working at the Thompson, Dauphin, Swan River, and The Pas locations
