About the role

Data Management Technician researching engineering and supplier data for New Flyer’s bus parts manuals. Assembling parts lists, illustration mark-ups, and quality-controlled update packages.

Responsibilities

Research and analyze data from Bills of Material, engineering drawings, vendor information, product photos, supplier documents, and engineering specifications
Assemble build-specific data packages, including parts lists and illustration mark-ups, for parts manual production
Create and organize manual section research packages for graphics-team illustration within project deadlines
Complete research tasks assigned by Technical Editors according to established procedures
Contact engineering staff and suppliers to clarify, verify, or obtain data
Maintain records of vendor data requests and follow up to ensure accurate information is obtained
Perform editing tasks, administrative work, statistics/metrics reporting, mentoring, and alternative-solution suggestions as required
Record manual updates and create manual bulletins when required
Complete tasks on schedule and perform quality-control checks
Assign new New Flyer part numbers to new OEM supplier parts
Maintain and archive source documentation in electronic and hard-copy formats
Communicate identified data inaccuracies to the Technical Editor for recording in the update system
Work efficiently in a team environment and consult Technical Editors for clarification
Upgrade skills on new or updated software

Certification/diploma from a recognized technical school as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist or equivalent workplace experience
3-5 years of experience interpreting Manufacturing BOMs and engineering drawings into service parts lists
Heavy equipment/automotive parts manufacturing background
Experience sourcing vendor data
Experience with Engineering Data Management systems such as TeamCenter
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Minimum 2 years of experience working in the technical publishing industry as a data research technician
Excellent investigative and communication skills in an engineering environment
Effective customer service skills
Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications, Windows OS, and networks
Experience with Oracle database ERP systems and TeamCenter would be an asset
