About the role

Junior Electrical Designer developing PLC programs, electrical checkouts, and configuration files for New Flyer’s heavy-duty transit buses. Supporting production, quality, customers, and vendors.

Responsibilities

Complete engineering design tasks and projects, primarily related to electrical checkouts and PLC programming, from concept to implementation in production
Complete related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings, and bills of materials
Create engineering designs, especially PLC programs, meeting customer functionality requirements and applicable regulations
Write electrical checkout procedures for testing vehicles prior to delivery
Create programs and configuration files for engines, fans, hybrid propulsion systems, gateway modules, and other components
Provide engineering support to production, quality assurance, customer service support, and other departments, remotely or onsite at production facilities as required
Interact with vendors and customers on design-related issues
Participate in product and process improvement initiatives

Graduate from an Engineering technical institute/University in electrical engineering
Design-related experience of 1-2 years is preferred
PLC programming experience is an asset
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to travel to the US (less than 15%)
