About the role

  • Sales Development Representative prospecting scientists and qualifying leads for Nicoya’s biotech biosensor platforms. Supporting marketing and sales teams through scientific outreach, CRM management, and KPI tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives and Field Application Scientists to support regional sales goals
  • Support Marketing demand generation initiatives, including events and NPI prospecting
  • Identify and research new prospects using LinkedIn, SciLeads, Clay, and CRM reports
  • Conduct email and phone outreach to scientists and decision-makers
  • Qualify inbound leads and schedule discovery calls or demos with the sales team
  • Understand prospects’ research goals and how Nicoya’s and Applied Photophysics' product portfolios can support their work
  • Maintain accurate records and contact details in the CRM
  • Experiment with and optimize outbound messaging and outreach tactics
  • Track and report key prospecting KPIs and campaign results
  • Report directly to the Marketing department while supporting the Sales Team’s prospecting initiatives

Requirements

  • Ideally 1-3 years of experience in a sales or customer service role
  • College Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Science
  • Combined science and business background
  • Experience selling technical or scientific equipment to academic labs, government labs, and businesses
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Science background in biotech, life sciences, chemistry, materials science, or related fields
  • Experience in a customer-facing or sales role is a plus, but not required
  • Eager to learn sales best practices and scientific applications of the technology
  • Previous experience with CRM platforms; Salesforce preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented startup environment
  • Desire to travel and be customer-facing at events and conferences
  • Resourceful, self-starting, and able to seek out new opportunities
  • Metrics- and goal-oriented with a strong desire to deliver results and meet targets
  • Passion for exploring new scientific research
  • Strong communicator who thrives in a team environment
