About the role
- Managing Norfolk County’s cybersecurity, disaster recovery, incident response, and security projects. Supervising IT security staff and protecting municipal systems, services, and information.
Responsibilities
- Maintain IT security standards protecting private and confidential information
- Investigate security breaches
- Manage offsite security information and event management (SIEM) contracted service
- Oversee security assessments, audits, and penetration testing by external contractors
- Manage retention of backup information for corporate systems
- Manage IT security projects, including cost, quality, time, and risk
- Review security procedures and report security vulnerabilities to the Director
- Manage Norfolk County’s IT disaster recovery and incident response plans
- Benchmark and communicate disaster recovery and incident response plans to departments and divisions
- Supervise IT security staff
- Manage and update project work plans
- Assist in developing information technology policies and procedures
- Provide backup support for information technology functions
- Promote effective and appropriate use of information technology
- Provide progress reports at meetings
- Monitor changes and innovations in technology
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support of critical systems and services
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) year post secondary education diploma or degree in computer science or technology studies, or equivalent
- Additional courses and certifications as changing technology requires
- Over five (5) years of experience to be familiar with scope of position, or equivalent previous experience
- Two (2) years of experience in project management and/or supervising staff
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Computer expertise regarding cybersecurity
- Computer expertise in backup and resiliency technologies
- Computer expertise in IT Network security protocols and frameworks such as NIST CSF
- Successful applicants must provide a current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector check where required
