About the role
- Staff Python engineer architecting distributed data, experimentation, and AI systems. Building scalable marketing intelligence infrastructure for eCommerce brands at Northbeam.
Responsibilities
- Architect the incrementality product into a reliable, repeatable experimentation platform
- Set the direction for near-real-time ingestion and processing beyond batch workflows
- Define patterns for AI-powered workflows helping marketers evaluate performance and act on insights
- Lead connection-state systems and the partner ecosystem across data ingestion and exports
- Shape technical approaches in adjacent product areas such as role-based access control (RBAC)
- Take products from ambiguity through architecture to production and scale
- Partner with data scientists, product managers, and designers
- Conduct design reviews, mentor engineers, and raise the standard for shipped work
Requirements
- 8+ years designing and building distributed backend systems, microservices, APIs, and/or data processing systems in Python
- Deep experience owning system architecture, including tradeoffs that surface at scale
- Track record partnering with product managers, designers, and data scientists to shape what gets built
- Startup experience, or experience in an environment demanding breadth, sound judgment, and problem-solving under ambiguity
- Ability to turn ambiguous product needs into sound technical architecture and production-ready solutions
- Fluency navigating complex datasets and interconnected tables
- Working frontend experience with React and TypeScript
- Strong coding fundamentals, using AI as an accelerator rather than a substitute for core capabilities
- Generalist mindset and willingness to work across backend, frontend, pipelines, and infrastructure
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving team operations
