About the role
- Mechanical Designer creating 3D equipment and plant layouts for Sedgman’s mineral-processing projects. Supporting detailed engineering and drafting for Canada’s mining and heavy-industrial sector.
Responsibilities
- Complete detailed design of equipment and plant layouts from sketches or specification outlines in the mechanical field under direction of engineers or a supervising designer
- Create 3D designs from complex, multidiscipline engineering concepts.
- Participate in the review of designs and advise on technical drafting difficulties or compliance requirements as appropriate.
- Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design
- Prepare drawings of designs relating to plant, equipment, services or other facilities or structures.
- Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system.
- Ensure engineering designs follow the standard Sedgman design workflows, systems and procedures
- Provide drafting support to the project teams in line with management direction from them whilst maximising individual and teams utilisation.
- Focus on meeting expectations for schedule, quality and client satisfaction
- Check drafting deliverables for accuracy, completeness and adherence to design specifications & intent.
- Apply attention and diligence to uphold quality standards, and client requirements, to complete tasks efficiently.
Requirements
- Associate Diploma in CAD / Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Must have 5-7 years industry experience in a design / consultancy environment, preferably supporting mining, minerals processing, or heavy industries.
- Experience with projects from conceptual design through to detailed engineering.
- Strong expertise in Auto CAD 3D software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Navisworks) is essential
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Previous MS Office skills
