About the role

  • Senior Mechanical Engineer at Nutrien focusing on capital project design and compliance with engineering standards. Collaborating with stakeholders to enhance safety and efficiency in agricultural operations.

Responsibilities

  • Complete mechanical engineering design of capital projects
  • Review designs prepared by external engineering consultants
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met
  • Liaise with Nutrien technical services groups, project development group, original equipment manufacturers and consultants to complete mechanical design of reliability, growth, expansion and sustainability projects
  • Utilize Nutrien equipment specifications and complete technical reviews as required for IFR and IFC packages for equipment purchase and installation to ensure that the equipment is built to recognized standards and practices
  • Act as discipline subject matter resource, as required, throughout detailed engineering, project execution, commissioning & start up, and operation and evaluation phases
  • Work with Site Trades Groups, Planners, Engineers, Inspectors, Turnaround and Project Groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical
  • Registered or be eligible for immediate registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
  • 12+ years of plant mechanical engineering experience on stationary and rotating equipment
  • Working knowledge in pressure vessel and piping codes (ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, ASME Section VIII Div 1 & 2, ASME PCC-1, ASME PCC-2)
  • Working knowledge in API 579, API 571, API 510, API 570 and API 650 is considered an asset
  • Exposure to Alberta regulatory requirements for pressure equipment (ABSA)
  • Advanced experience working with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Power BI, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Experience using PV Elite, CodeCalc, and CAESAR is considered an asset
  • Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance is considered an asset
  • High degree of problem-solving skills and comprehension
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • Experience in safety management processes and practices.
