About the role
- Safer Gambling data student analyzing OLG PlaySmart initiatives and player-risk metrics. Querying Hadoop data with SQL/Python and producing statistical reports and Power BI dashboards.
Responsibilities
- Support research, analytical initiatives, and projects related to Safer Gambling
- Analyze Safer Gambling program data to provide insights
- Query big data through the Hadoop data lake using SQL and Python
- Apply machine learning techniques such as regression and clustering to support business insights
- Prepare, clean, analyze, and interpret data using statistical techniques
- Produce reports and PowerBI dashboards
- Analyze Safer Gambling initiatives and A/B testing performance
- Create documentation for analysis findings, presentations, reports, and templates
- Support research studies to facilitate data collection and analysis
- Manage, prioritize, and respond to ad-hoc data requests
Requirements
- Interest in research, public policy, and social sciences
- Experience using Python and SQL required
- Experience with descriptive and inferential statistics and analyses
- Ability to present technical concepts to a business audience
- Strong communication skills and ability to describe technical results succinctly and compellingly
- Student in a program dedicated to Statistics, Mathematics, Math and Business, or Master of Management Science
- Creative and persuasive writing, reporting, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage projects and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively within an agile environment
