About the role

  • Business Development Manager selling OPAL-RT’s real-time simulation solutions to energy-sector customers. Managing complex sales cycles and accounts across Canada and the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell OPAL-RT solutions to academic and industrial accounts, with a focus on the energy sector
  • Initiate and manage complex sales cycles, including generating and qualifying opportunities, negotiating and closing sales at the highest level
  • Analyze, identify and implement strategies to develop new business opportunities
  • Define and execute strategic plans to approach, access and develop new accounts
  • Prospect and make cold calls to targeted customers
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with existing clients
  • Present and demonstrate products and services
  • Prepare and submit value-added technical and commercial proposals
  • Leverage business partners to identify ways to contact and approach existing and potential customers
  • Participate in conferences, tradeshows and events
  • Respond to customer and prospect requests using internal resources, including pre-sales, R&D and general management
  • Travel to customer sites and tradeshows up to 35% of the time

Requirements

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical engineering preferred)
  • Approximately 5 years of experience in the energy sector related to technical sales and/or business development
  • Knowledge of energy systems, power systems and power conversion
  • Full sales cycle management: prospecting, cold calling, needs analysis and closing
  • Account management and growth
  • Technical and commercial proposal writing
  • Understanding of French is mandatory; courses will be offered if necessary
  • Fluent English required for communication with clients in the United States and Canada
  • Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal communication, adaptability, organizational, autonomy, rigor and determination skills
  • Knowledge of power systems simulation, power electronics simulation and hardware-in-the-loop
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office, CRM and MATLAB/Simulink
