About the role
- Product Engineer owning customer-focused features for OpsLevel’s agentic software delivery platform. Building Rails, GraphQL, and MySQL systems while improving AI-assisted engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Own product problems end to end, from understanding customer obstacles through solution shaping, implementation, launch, and iteration
- Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams to lead customer-focused solutions
- Talk to customers, join calls, read support threads, and observe real-world product usage
- Produce well-tested code and constructive code reviews
- Use coding agents and improve agent context, tooling, and guardrails
- Help build the internal software factory routing work from Linear to agents and human review
- Monitor and address technical debt and architectural improvements
- Propose and promote best practices in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and database design
- Build private and public GraphQL APIs for the front end, CLI, and customer automation
- Lead technical explorations and build prototypes
- Ship predictably and communicate when work is off track
- Mentor colleagues and support their growth
- Participate in on-call troubleshooting across Ruby on Rails, Vue.js, GraphQL, and MySQL
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience with Ruby on Rails, or 7 years with a similar web framework such as Spring, Django, or Node.js
- Experience designing architectures with strong interface boundaries and separation of concerns
- Experience working from SOLID principles
- Strong knowledge of Rails
- Experience designing performant MySQL data models
- Knowledge of RDBMS data structuring, indexing, denormalization, and debugging and fixing slow queries
- Experience building with AI tools and informed judgment about their effective use
- Product instinct and ability to understand user needs before designing
- Nice to have: experience building agent systems beyond autocomplete, such as an eval harness, custom tool, MCP server, or internal workflow
- Nice to have: experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Rails job systems such as Sidekiq, Redis, and large-scale web applications
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
- North America location and work authorization in the selected country
