About the role

  • Communications specialist creating content, social campaigns, and media relations for Pelmorex, the company behind The Weather Network. Supporting brand awareness across weather platforms and corporate communications.

Responsibilities

  • Create communication content for businesses, consumers, and employees
  • Develop announcements, product news, client success stories, leadership and employee profiles, and company highlights
  • Pitch content to media to increase brand awareness
  • Collaborate with internal departments and weather-brand marketing and social teams
  • Lead creation of communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, social posts, blogs, and sales collateral
  • Create campaign concepts, messaging, and communication toolkits
  • Produce multi-channel content while maintaining brand voice, quality, and style
  • Manage and optimize social media strategy, including organic and paid approaches
  • Create company-wide social media guidelines and maintain a strategic content calendar
  • Update the corporate website with current news and information
  • Analyze campaigns, sales reports, Google Analytics, and industry trends
  • Implement measurement tools and deliver weekly/monthly social media performance reports
  • Recommend channels and technologies to improve performance
  • Coordinate media requests and conduct outreach to online media, influencers, and partners
  • Work with the PR firm to secure speaking opportunities
  • Pitch stories, support marketing campaigns, and assist with PR/Communications event planning
  • Build media relationships and drive positive brand awareness
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to meet communication needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, PR, or a related field
  • 3+ years in PR, Communications, or Marketing
  • Proven track record writing press releases, speeches, articles, reports, and web copy
  • Cross-platform content writing expertise (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of social platforms, content distribution, and SEO
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and presentation design
  • Experience with media monitoring tools and wire services
  • Experience managing WordPress sites
  • Skills in video editing and creative design using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Basic understanding of HTML and UX/UI principles
  • Familiarity with AI tools and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
  • Portfolio of work preferred
  • Knowledge of Canadian and global media across broadcast, print, and online
  • Ability to respond to urgent media, consumer, and stakeholder matters in a 24/7 operation
