About the role
- IT Infrastructure Administrator designing and supporting Pelmorex’s infrastructure for trusted weather forecasts and alerts. Managing Kubernetes, cloud, automation, security, monitoring, and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support Pelmorex’s IT infrastructure to standardize, modernize, and automate infrastructure management
- Provide strategic coordination and tactical governance for infrastructure management
- Design solutions aligned with organizational strategic goals and technology roadmap
- Collaborate with other administrators and technical leads
- Design and implement infrastructure core systems including Kubernetes, virtual machines, clusters, CI/CD, cloud environments, network security, automation, and monitoring
- Provide technical advice or leadership for IT-related projects
- Design infrastructure solutions for high availability, scalability, resiliency, integrity, and security
- Review existing systems and platforms and recommend improvements using best-of-breed technologies
- Research emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions
- Perform quality assurance and document infrastructure architecture
- Document and hand over systems and processes to IT Operations
- Act as a third-level support escalation
- Ensure infrastructure systems meet or exceed agreed service levels
- Identify opportunities to improve IT service delivery
- Deliver projects on time, on budget, and to stakeholder quality expectations
- Provide after-hours and weekend support when required
- Perform other duties as reasonably required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as information technology, computer science, or management information systems
- 5+ years of experience working in a 24/7 IT environment
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience with containerization and Kubernetes cluster design, implementation, and management on Cloudstack, Proxmox, EKS, GKE, and AKS
- Infrastructure as Code proficiency with Terraform, shell, Python, or equivalent technology
- Excellent knowledge of cloud computing, GCP, AWS, Azure, Cloudstack, Proxmox, and AI/machine learning
- Excellent knowledge of managing Kubernetes infrastructure
- Experience in complex IT environments covering network, systems, and storage
- Excellent technical skills in Linux, Windows, scripting, Terraform, and automation
- Familiarity with systems monitoring, log aggregation, and dashboard solutions such as ELK, Prometheus, and Otel
- Experience with DevOps tools and culture
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently produce results within timelines
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with other members
- Proven track record of developing and providing Service Level Agreements and service deliverables
- Strong analytical, resolution, and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to explain complex technology to non-technologists
- Ability to balance competing priorities and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
