About the role

  • Directeur de l’innovation développant de nouveaux produits et repositionnant des molécules pour renforcer le portefeuille pharmaceutique de Pendopharm. Pilotage des projets d’innovation de l’idéation à la soumission réglementaire, avec les communautés médicales et universitaires canadiennes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research and evaluation activities to identify internally developable product opportunities to strengthen Pendopharm's portfolio
  • Reposition established molecules through new formulations, new routes of administration, or new indications to address unmet medical needs
  • Develop and mobilize a network of key opinion leaders to identify unmet medical needs and innovative opportunities
  • Collaborate with organizational functions to guide product development decisions and secure necessary financial resources
  • Develop, plan, and execute innovation projects from ideation through regulatory submission
  • Lead relationships with Canadian medical and academic communities, key opinion leaders, research institutes, and academic and scientific institutions
  • Serve as the point of contact with external investigators for investigator-initiated studies
  • Lead the ideation process to identify, prioritize, evaluate, and recommend product opportunities
  • Present internal development projects and obtain funding approval
  • Influence the product development team to ensure project execution, resource allocation, and adherence to timelines
  • Oversee the full product development lifecycle, including design, testing, evaluations, clinical development, and regulatory submission
  • Foster a culture of creativity and collaboration
  • Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams and external partners to ensure the success of innovation programs

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree required (M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., etc.)
  • More than 15 years of experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry
  • Broad expertise across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Proven experience conducting complex evaluations, from scouting to governance decision-making
  • Established network with investigators, researchers, and innovation ecosystems across Canada
  • Proficiency in valuation concepts, the option value approach, scenario modeling, and risk assessment
  • Ability to clearly articulate value drivers and transaction-related concepts
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate complex information to scientific and non-scientific stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership, and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems, lead projects, and engage teams
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment
  • Capability to exercise both direct leadership and influence-based leadership
  • Bilingual in French and English to collaborate with regulatory authorities and vendors and/or clients outside Quebec
  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time
