About the role

  • Director of Innovation at Pendopharm leading research and evaluation to identify product opportunities. Focus on repositioning proven molecules and engaging with opinion leaders throughout Canada and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of relationships within Canadian medical and academic communities, including key opinion leaders, research institutes, and academic and scientific institutions
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders and other external stakeholders in selected therapeutic areas
  • Serve as the point of contact with external investigators for any requests related to investigator-initiated studies
  • Lead the ideation process to identify, prioritize, evaluate, and recommend product opportunities that can be developed internally (success will be measured by the number of projects approved)
  • Present internal development projects and secure funding approval from the leadership team and other stakeholders
  • Influence the product development team to ensure effective project execution, prudent resource allocation, and adherence to timelines
  • Oversee the entire product development cycle, from ideation through regulatory submission, including design, testing, evaluation, and clinical development
  • Drive innovation by fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams and external partners to ensure the success of innovation programs

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree (M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., etc.)
  • More than 15 years of experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical sector
  • Broad expertise across multiple therapeutic areas with a proven track record in conducting complex evaluations, from scouting to governance decision-making
  • Established network with investigators, researchers, and innovation ecosystems across Canada
  • Strong business acumen: proficiency in valuation concepts; optionality/value-based approaches; scenario and risk modeling; ability to clearly articulate value drivers and transaction-related concepts
  • Ability to travel (at least 30% of the time); travel will be primarily within the country
  • Bilingual FR/EN: the role holder must collaborate with regulatory authorities and suppliers and/or clients located outside the province of Quebec
