About the role

  • Tax Manager overseeing PressReader’s tax compliance, reporting, planning, and transfer pricing. Supporting the digital content distribution company’s cross-border growth and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file indirect tax returns across applicable jurisdictions
  • Ensure VAT, GST/HST, sales tax, and other indirect tax requirements are reflected in invoicing and reporting
  • Prepare tax-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities under IFRS and corporate policies
  • Estimate current and deferred tax exposures for budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Maintain documentation supporting tax filings, reconciliations, and audits
  • Identify and implement tax planning opportunities
  • Advise on new business initiatives, cross-border transactions, restructuring, and strategic projects
  • Monitor tax legislation and indirect tax requirements across jurisdictions
  • Research and support applications for tax credits, incentives, and government subsidies
  • Identify tax risks and opportunities and recommend actions to management
  • Conduct tax research and provide recommendations on evolving rules and business requirements
  • Maintain intercompany transfer pricing policies and documentation under OECD guidelines and local requirements
  • Monitor intercompany transactions and prepare transfer pricing documentation
  • Ensure intercompany agreements align with transfer pricing policies
  • Communicate with tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions
  • Work with external tax advisors on corporate tax filings and compliance
  • Partner with Accounting, Legal, Sales, and other stakeholders
  • Communicate with external auditors and internal stakeholders on tax matters
  • Translate complex tax matters into practical business guidance
  • Evaluate and improve tax processes, controls, and documentation
  • Streamline and automate information extraction for tax analysis, reporting, and reconciliations
  • Implement and leverage tax technology solutions

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience, preferably in a multinational or multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Strong knowledge of corporate tax, indirect tax, withholding tax, and transfer pricing principles
  • Experience with tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions
  • Familiarity with IFRS and financial reporting processes
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal stakeholders, external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities
  • Experience with process improvement, automation, or tax technology solutions
  • Experience working at an international accounting firm
  • Professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA, Master of Taxation) or equivalent tax experience
  • Ability to own the company’s tax function and provide strategic tax recommendations and guidance
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
