About the role
- Project Management Manager leading Project Managers and delivery standards for Qualus, a power infrastructure solutions firm. Overseeing resources, governance, assurance, and continuous improvement across Canadian grid engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Directly lead, manage, mentor, onboard, and develop a team of Project Managers
- Set performance expectations and conduct coaching, performance reviews, and career development planning
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives
- Plan project-management capacity and assign Project Managers based on workload, capability, project complexity, and business priorities
- Forecast demand, address resource gaps, resolve allocation conflicts, and monitor team utilization
- Support transitions when Project Managers are assigned to or released from projects and programs
- Develop and maintain project-management governance, methodologies, tools, templates, and reporting standards
- Coach Project Managers in planning, scheduling, cost control, change management, risk management, contract administration, and client communication
- Conduct project health checks and management reviews
- Escalate systemic delivery risks and implement corrective actions
- Serve as functional leader and senior escalation point for people, capability, and resource matters
- Collaborate with Program Managers, technical leaders, operations, finance, and clients to improve execution
- Participate in project and portfolio reviews
- Support business development and proposal activities
- Analyze delivery trends and lessons learned to improve capability, efficiency, and consistency
- Lead training, knowledge-sharing, and project-management maturity initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 15 years of engineering, project management, and/or operations experience on transmission, substation, or distribution projects
- At least 5 years in progressively responsible people-leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing Project Managers
- Strong knowledge of project-management governance, controls, resource planning, and delivery assurance
- Excellent leadership, written and verbal communication, conflict resolution, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze delivery trends, identify systemic issues, and implement practical improvements
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, accountability, collaboration, and professional integrity
- PMP designation considered an asset
