Casual Scheduling Assistant coordinating shifts, absence calls, and staffing coverage across Peel Region’s five long-term care homes. Hybrid role based at Brampton headquarters with remote work within Ontario.
Responsibilities
Assist CBSU Coordinators with covering shifts across five Regional Long Term Care homes
Call staff to fill vacated shifts while adhering to collective agreements and scheduling rules
Update schedules promptly when changes occur
Monitor, answer, and act on calls received through the absence line
Process centralized mailbox emails and document actions, outcomes, and follow-up
Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts
Escalate unusual situations or concerns to CBSU Coordinators or Supervisors
Maintain respectful and clear communication with staff and management
Support emergency staffing needs when required
Perform additional duties to support operational continuity
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and scheduling systems such as JBS
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station
Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and make decisions in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a positive customer service approach
Collaborative mindset, reliability, and professionalism under pressure
Previous scheduling experience in a health care environment is nice to have
Availability for listed weekday and weekend shifts
Ability to support emergency staffing needs, occasionally outside scheduled hours
Off-site work location must be within Ontario
