Adult Day Support Worker providing personal care and senior services at Peel Region’s Adult Day Services. Supporting dignity, independence, health monitoring, meals, medications, and personalized care.
Responsibilities
Provide personal care to clients attending Adult Day Programs
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality, client-centred services
Promote clients’ dignity and self-esteem by encouraging independence within a secure and stimulating environment
Provide services meeting individual needs, including activities of daily living
Assist with medications
Serve and assist with meals and monitor safe consumption
Monitor participants’ basic health and report unusual concerns to the Supervisor
Provide guidance and advice to volunteers and placement students
Assist in orienting new staff
Promote an atmosphere of comfort and security for clients
Contribute to personalized care plans for each client
Maintain documentation and perform duties according to policies, procedures and legislated standards
Report to the Adult Day and Community Services Supervisor or designate
Requirements
Personal Support Worker Certificate, graduation from a program whose curriculum has been approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities is required
Previous experience of at least one (1) year in a community setting or an Adult Day Service or Long Term Care setting is preferred
Must have and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid Certification
The Food Handler Training is required
Pharmacology Certification is required
Computer skills are required as well as other technological tools to perform routine duties
Effective oral and written communication skills
Good understanding of customer service concepts
Ability to communicate appropriately with clients, staff, visitors, volunteers and medical professionals
Ability to work well with others in a team setting
Successful candidates hired to work within any of The Region of Peel’s Long Term Care Homes are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Check and TB Skin Testing prior to hire
