About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building full-stack banking products for Relay, a digital platform helping small businesses manage money. Owning scalable features, infrastructure, and technical improvements across the product suite.
Responsibilities
- Own features across the full development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Manage production systems and optimize infrastructure
- Contribute to platform availability, scalability, and resilience
- Partner with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams to build customer- and business-focused solutions
- Identify technical, process, and product improvements
- Influence technical direction and long-term strategy
- Mentor junior engineers and support team growth
- Lead initiatives to improve code quality, optimize performance, and streamline development processes
- Participate in live coding, system design, and interview activities as part of the hiring process
Requirements
- 3+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
- Experience leading significant components or features with minimal oversight
- Experience mentoring junior engineers
- Ability to drive code quality, performance, and development-process improvements
- Curiosity about new frameworks, best practices, and emerging technologies
- Comfort working in fast-paced, dynamic environments and navigating ambiguity and change
- Collaborative approach and willingness to give and receive feedback
- End-to-end ownership and proactive problem-solving
- Background check and employment verification through Certn required for employment
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Ability to work from the office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
- JavaScript experience is a bonus, with primary use of TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Working knowledge of AWS services and continuous deployment pipelines is a bonus
- Startup or high-growth technology company experience is a bonus
