About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building scalable banking products for Relay’s small-business platform. Owning full-stack features, infrastructure, and technical improvements across a hybrid Toronto team.
Responsibilities
- Own features across the full development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Ensure reliability and performance at scale
- Manage production systems and optimize infrastructure
- Contribute to platform availability, scalability, and resilience
- Partner with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams to meet customer and business needs
- Identify technical, process, and product improvements
- Influence technical direction and long-term strategy
- Mentor junior engineers and support team growth
- Participate in Google Meet interviews, live coding, system design, and an in-person leadership interview
Requirements
- 3+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
- Experience leading significant components or features with minimal oversight
- Experience mentoring junior engineers
- Experience driving code-quality, performance, and development-process improvements
- Curiosity about new frameworks, best practices, and emerging technologies
- Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments and navigate ambiguity and change
- Collaborative approach and willingness to give and receive feedback
- End-to-end ownership and creative, proactive problem solving
- Background in startups or high-growth tech companies is a bonus
- JavaScript experience is a bonus; primary technologies include TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- AWS services knowledge and continuous deployment pipeline experience are bonuses
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Able to join the office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
- Successful background check and employment verification required
