About the role

  • Assurance Supervisor leading audit, review, compilation, and tax engagements for RSM’s private-client services practice. Supervising teams, managing client deliverables, and applying risk-based assurance methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams through the full process of preparing financial statements, disclosures, and reportable conditions letters
  • Coordinate audits, review engagements, compilations, tax work, and other client deliverables
  • Develop an understanding of clients’ businesses and needs
  • Apply RSM’s review, compilation, and audit methodologies using a risk-based approach
  • Collaborate with engagement managers, senior managers, and partners on engagement planning and execution
  • Identify accounting, auditing, industry, and client issues
  • Prepare board communications, deficiency letters, management letters, and other deliverables
  • Supervise associates and seniors, monitor productivity, and report on work-plan and budget adherence
  • Address client concerns and escalate issues
  • Facilitate efficient information flow between clients and audit teams
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities for team members
  • Recognize opportunities for RSM to expand services to clients
  • Manage time across multiple projects
  • Keep current with industry developments and thought leadership
  • Maintain professional development through ongoing education

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another discipline from an accredited University
  • Active CPA license or demonstrated progress toward CPA licensure in province of residence
  • 4+ years of recent assurance experience within a public accounting environment
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, CASs or other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Understanding of compilation, review, audit, and tax services
  • Experience leading portions of audit engagements from planning through completion
  • Experience reviewing workpapers and managing workflow across multiple engagements
  • Ability to lead and develop staff, including coaching, reviewing work, and providing performance feedback
  • Ability to manage client communication and expectations
  • Experience overseeing substantive testing, analytical procedures, and control testing
  • Clear, professional, and effective communication skills
  • Effective project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment and at client sites
  • Ability to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods
  • Consistent onsite presence during core business hours
  • Ability to regularly report to a firm office and travel to client sites
  • Reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the year, depending on clients
