About the role
- Junior Accountant supporting accounting operations, reconciliations, and financial reporting at Running Room, a Canadian running gear and apparel retailer.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily accounting tasks, including journal entries, general ledger postings, and account reconciliations
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Help compile financial information for internal reporting and external accountants
- Help investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in financial data
- Apply Canadian GAAP to support accurate financial records
- Respond to accounting inquiries and provide support to internal departments
- Contribute to variance analysis
- Participate in process improvements and learn best practices from senior team members
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in accounting
- Working knowledge of full-cycle accounting
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar accounting software is an asset
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends as required by deadlines
