About the role

  • Community Integration Practitioner delivering newcomer settlement, orientation and integration services. Supporting clients through consultations, referrals, workshops, outreach and community connections at S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver outcome-oriented settlement programs to eligible clients
  • Conduct formal reviews of newcomer needs across language, employment, housing and community connections
  • Develop settlement plans and follow-up support based on identified needs
  • Perform client data entry and document needs, plans, attendance records and outcomes in the client database
  • Refer or arrange clients for appropriate services
  • Provide settlement and integration information and orientation about Canada and local communities
  • Deliver one-on-one consultations in person, by email, online and by phone
  • Provide information and orientation through workshops, group sessions and classes
  • Liaise with government, professional groups, businesses, schools and community services
  • Facilitate guided visits to government and community resources
  • Plan, implement and assist with events such as job fairs and community networking events
  • Perform cultural interpretation and workshop interpretation where applicable
  • Translate resources for newcomers
  • Conduct outreach to local community organizations to promote programs and recruit clients
  • Provide settlement assistance to newcomers arriving in YVR
  • Attend program meetings on service delivery issues
  • Provide current community service, government department and procedure information to the supervisor
  • Participate in professional development and improve program outcomes and day-to-day services
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social or Human Sciences
  • Experience working with newcomers, refugees, temporary foreign workers, naturalized citizens and international students
  • Experience with multicultural clientele and immigrant-related services
  • Experience conducting workshops and events
  • Experience in one-on-one settlement service delivery
  • Knowledge of settlement information and resources
  • Knowledge of the local geographic area
  • Criminal Record Check required
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Excellent technical skills in MS Office and web-based applications, including MS Teams and Zoom
  • Excellent resource, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to excellence in service delivery
  • Excellent group facilitation skills
  • Ability to work with individuals and communities facing cultural adjustment challenges
  • Ability to design, promote, deliver and facilitate orientation and education workshops
  • Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) Certification is considered an asset
  • A second language may be an asset when required to meet operational needs
