Kettle Coordinator overseeing volunteers, kettles, and donations for The Salvation Army’s Christmas campaign. Supporting operations across St. Albert and nearby Alberta retail locations.
Responsibilities
Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
Support delivery of kettles to zone locations before volunteers arrive
Ensure kettle donations are delivered to a secure location at shift completion
Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the City/Assistant Coordinator
Orient and remind volunteers on proper kettle handling and duties
Supervise, support, and assign kettle volunteers throughout the campaign
Participate in recruiting new volunteers
Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
Communicate daily with the ATL partner for effective transition
Submit timesheets and mileage reports accurately and weekly
Remain at the kettle for the full shift until relieved, ensuring donation security
Respond to potential donors’ questions about Salvation Army ministries and programs
Collect donations and petty cash and keep donations secure
Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Report directly to the CMO and CO
Requirements
Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
Some high school coursework; completion of high school is an asset
One year of related experience or working in customer service
Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required
Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20–25 lbs)
Strong customer service skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Enthusiastic team player
Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in handling donor, volunteer, and organizational information
Money handling experience is an asset
Related experience is an asset
