About the role

  • Onsite laboratory project manager developing proposals and financial models for SGS, a testing, inspection and certification company. Coordinating global laboratory builds, equipment purchasing and project startups.

Responsibilities

  • Review, assess and create financial models and proposals for new and existing onsite laboratories
  • Consult with clients, SGS regional and country staff regarding requirements, costs and schedules
  • Work with operating affiliates to implement planning, scheduling and coordination required to execute and control new onsite laboratory builds and startups
  • Model each onsite laboratory opportunity using information collected from regional teams
  • Work with team and regional management to obtain technical and operational sign-off of developed models
  • Prepare or assist in preparing technical proposals and/or tender submissions
  • Communicate with clients to develop new onsite laboratory opportunities, confirm RFP information and negotiate to win opportunities for SGS
  • Work with local operating teams to schedule and track new onsite laboratory designs, builds, renovations and expansion projects
  • Confirm and monitor laboratory equipment purchasing to ensure completeness, global-standard compliance and timely arrival

Requirements

  • University degree in a Science or Engineering related program, with a strong preference in a Geosciences profession (Geology, Mines, Mineralogy, Environmental Mineralogy, Soil Science etc.)
  • Select technical experience in a geosciences-related profession with some aspects of business management/personnel management
  • Strong working knowledge of the mining and minerals industry
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Extended and/or irregular hours may be required due to global team involvement
  • Ability to work well with others and independently, without supervision
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, fluid and highly professional environment
  • Superior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition in English
  • Proficiency in other languages besides English (French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic etc.) is valuable
