About the role

  • Intermediate Application Engineer supporting design and delivery of software applications for SGS. Collaborating in coding, debugging, and maintaining software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, delivery, and improvement of in-house software applications
  • Perform coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process
  • Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
  • Write well-designed, testable code
  • Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
  • Maintain software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
  • Ensure software is updated with latest features
  • Comply with project plans and industry standards
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • 2-4 years of experience in application development OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • IT Architect Certification, or The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), or Certified Technical Architect (CTA), or Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), or Certified Application Developer, or Oracle Application Express Developer Certified Expert (Oracle APEX), or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification and Project Management professional (PMP) certification
  • Advanced level proficiency in English
  • Intermediate level proficiency in mathematics
  • Advanced level reasoning skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and perform highly independent work
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and as individual contributor
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
