About the role

  • Project Manager delivering environmental consulting projects for SLR Consulting, an environmental and sustainability services firm. Managing proposals, budgets, client relationships, and multidisciplinary Environmental Sciences projects.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to proposal and RFP requests
  • Write and/or compile proposals and budgets with financial acumen, working with technical experts and project directors
  • Liaise with technical disciplines across SLR to provide appropriate scope
  • Manage and maintain client relationships through consistent communication
  • Oversee and/or delegate project tasks to small technical groups
  • Plan, report, and track project schedules and budgets
  • Ensure proposals and projects follow SLR information retention and documentation policies
  • Ensure deliverables are provided on schedule and budget
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff in deliverables, time management, and business development
  • Develop and implement plans to expand business opportunities in the Environmental Sciences Service Line
  • Participate nationally with Service Line Teams and technical disciplines throughout Canadian operations
  • Support projects across Acoustics & Vibration, Air Quality, and Ecology teams, with minimal technical-task requirements
  • Manage the full project life cycle, including scoping work plans, coordinating and executing projects, client support, data analysis and reviews, reporting, invoicing, and project closure
  • Spend more than 50% of time on proposal preparation

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary degree in environmental science, engineering, or related discipline (B.A.Sc., B.Sc., B.Eng., M.Sc., etc.)
  • Minimum five years of experience performing Project Management in environmental consulting
  • Excellent and confident written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in small and large teams
  • Extensive experience writing proposals and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • A PMP designation will be recognized but is not mandatory
  • Knowledge of planning policy in Ontario will be recognized but is not mandatory
  • Experience in client-facing roles and direct client engagement and management
  • Experience working in land development and/or infrastructure sectors is a significant asset
  • Experience in Power and Energy sectors is beneficial
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with multi-disciplinary projects and teams across Canada
  • Ability to develop business opportunities and have an excellent approach to client service
  • Knowledge and practical application of health and safety requirements
  • Experience and knowledge managing projects typically valued from $5,000 to $150,000 is expected
  • Willingness to travel across North America and within Canada as needed
