About the role

  • Mechanical designer in aeronautics creating 3D models and leading junior engineers in Boucherville. Involves development, project planning, and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research on the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of parts, mechanisms, and systems;
  • Participates in the development of innovative new products that satisfy very high customer requirements and meet internal targets for cost, reliability, and performance;
  • Obtains all relevant standards and regulatory documents required for research and development;
  • Participates in project planning and may be asked to lead projects;
  • Prepares cost and time estimates, reports, and design specifications;
  • Designs parts and systems;
  • Produces drawings and associated documentation that enable assembly while meeting various requirements, including cost, quality, and reliability;
  • Prepares contractual documents and evaluates bids;
  • Supervises technicians and other designers/engineers (where applicable) and reviews and approves designs, calculations, and cost estimates;
  • Optimizes designs to ensure the competitiveness of the system and proposes solutions aligned with recognized industry practices;
  • Contributes to mentoring, training, and performance evaluation of the engineering team;

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in a mechanical or aerospace engineering role;
  • Experience in manufacturing aerospace mechanical products;
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 is required;
  • Bilingual in spoken and written French and English to support English-speaking clients (approx. 50% of the time);
  • Member of the professional engineering order (P.Eng. or equivalent);
  • Innovative and focused on continuous improvement;
  • Practical, resourceful, and hands-on personality;
  • Understands mechanical systems, their assembly, and construction;
  • Understands material properties and their application;
  • Understands how loads are distributed within systems and accounts for this in design and approach;
  • Strong prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
