Responsibilities
Conducts research on the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of parts, mechanisms, and systems;
Participates in the development of innovative new products that satisfy very high customer requirements and meet internal targets for cost, reliability, and performance;
Obtains all relevant standards and regulatory documents required for research and development;
Participates in project planning and may be asked to lead projects;
Prepares cost and time estimates, reports, and design specifications;
Designs parts and systems;
Produces drawings and associated documentation that enable assembly while meeting various requirements, including cost, quality, and reliability;
Prepares contractual documents and evaluates bids;
Supervises technicians and other designers/engineers (where applicable) and reviews and approves designs, calculations, and cost estimates;
Optimizes designs to ensure the competitiveness of the system and proposes solutions aligned with recognized industry practices;
Contributes to mentoring, training, and performance evaluation of the engineering team;
Requirements
5 to 8 years of experience in a mechanical or aerospace engineering role;
Experience in manufacturing aerospace mechanical products;
Proficiency in CATIA V5 is required;
Bilingual in spoken and written French and English to support English-speaking clients (approx. 50% of the time);
Member of the professional engineering order (P.Eng. or equivalent);
Innovative and focused on continuous improvement;
Practical, resourceful, and hands-on personality;
Understands mechanical systems, their assembly, and construction;
Understands material properties and their application;
Understands how loads are distributed within systems and accounts for this in design and approach;
Strong prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
