About the role

  • Manufacturing engineering co-op developing and optimizing processes for Sonova’s custom in-the-ear hearing products. Conducting experiments, testing technologies and documenting manufacturing improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and optimization of manufacturing technologies and processes for custom in-the-ear hearing products
  • Create and execute test plans for additive manufacturing, surface technologies and joining processes
  • Perform measurements, analyze test results and document findings in technical test reports
  • Assist with the evaluation and improvement of manual assembly processes
  • Create work instructions and other manufacturing documentation
  • Take ownership of assigned work packages from planning through completion
  • Operate 3D printers and support practical laboratory and manufacturing testing
  • Collaborate with partners across Research and Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and Production
  • Help standardize manufacturing processes across appropriate process platforms
  • Benchmark, optimize and support the replacement of existing manufacturing technologies and processes, including obsolescence-related activities
  • Contribute to process-engineering projects and continuous-improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Studies in materials science, process engineering, chemistry, physics or microtechnology are especially relevant
  • Comfortable performing hands-on testing and laboratory work
  • Able to understand and analyze complex technical concepts
  • Capable of translating technical findings into practical measures and solutions
  • Determined, committed and able to work independently
  • Precise, organized and structured in your approach
  • Strong interdisciplinary thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Confident communicator who works well in collaborative and intercultural teams
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Microsoft Teams
  • Junior or senior year student
