About the role

  • Data Engineer building AWS lakehouse pipelines for SOVRA’s public procurement platform. Developing governed Bronze, Silver, and Gold data products for government customers.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain ingestion pipelines from product databases and SaaS platforms into Bronze-layer storage
  • Develop Silver-layer cleansing and conforming logic
  • Model Gold-layer datasets in dbt for internal teams and external customers
  • Translate internal product, GTM, and AI use cases into Gold-layer data products
  • Support direct data access, embedded BI, and curated exports for external customers
  • Monitor pipeline SLAs and resolve production incidents
  • Maintain catalog and lineage metadata and run data-quality checks
  • Contribute to API-based SaaS connectors, data streams, AI-consumable datasets, and lakehouse cost/performance tuning
  • Gather data requirements with cross-functional teams
  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, data models, and schemas
  • Ensure data consistency, integrity, availability, and accessibility across storage systems
  • Troubleshoot data integration issues and collaborate with data source owners
  • Provide technical support and continuously improve data engineering practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3–10+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and ETL processes
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with AWS data services, particularly S3, Glue, and Athena
  • Hands-on experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling
  • Knowledge of data lakehouse patterns and medallion architecture
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically Terraform
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Understanding of AI and machine learning concepts and ability to prepare data for AI-driven products
  • Fluent in English and French, verbally and in writing
  • Authorized to work in Canada; no work visa or transfer sponsorship available
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and customer-satisfaction skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
