About the role

  • Project Manager overseeing complex land development projects in Waterloo, Canada. Leading project teams through all phases, from design to implementation and client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing scope, budget, schedule and quality of deliverables associated with multiple large, multi-disciplinary projects of high complexity from due diligence to post construction stages.
  • Leads and develops a team of engineers and technologists, providing mentorship to other staff.
  • Manages the design and delivery of civil engineering deliverables for land development projects, overseeing servicing, grading, drainage design, and multidisciplinary project coordination, ensuring cohesiveness and consistency between submission deliverables.
  • Leads and provides mentorship through the development of a design using sketches, markups, and other visual formats for junior engineers/designers.
  • Leads project meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, Clients, contractors, review/commenting agencies, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications and construction documents.
  • Participates in constructability reviews.
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
  • Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the civil group.
  • Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
  • Participates in and leads (when required) marketing efforts, and business development and strategic pursuits, including lead development, proposal preparation, presentations, relationship management and client surveys.
  • Develops and maintains positive and professional relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and potential recruits.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of relevant land development guidelines and industry standards in/around Waterloo Region, County of Brant, Niagara Region, and Oxford County.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of land development engineering, including subdivision and site plan approval processes, civil servicing, grading design, drainage design, and construction administration.
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
  • Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Advanced understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others. Strong presentation skills.
  • Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.
  • Efficient project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Civil 3D would be considered an asset.
