About the role

  • Accountant supporting financial reporting, tax, audits, and controls. Helping S&C Electric Canada strengthen reliable, resilient power-grid infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Support Finance and Accounting operations by ensuring accurate financial records and timely financial reporting and analysis
  • Prepare accounting journal entries for monthly accruals
  • Reconcile GL accounts, including cash and investments, prepaids, receivables, payables, accruals, and intercompany accounts
  • Administer fixed assets and report monthly capital expenditures
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing tasks
  • Prepare financial statements and management reporting packages
  • Conduct variance analysis and investigate significant deviations
  • Support Invest Ontario loan application documentation
  • Manage A/R billing and cash application
  • Administer the Concur T&E and vehicle fleet programs
  • Manage insurance administration and claims
  • Assist with quarterly forecasts and annual budgeting
  • Prepare cash flow projections
  • File monthly commodity taxes and prepare corporate tax filing documentation
  • Complete NR4 filing
  • Support internal control implementation and maintain the internal control framework
  • Assist with external and government audits
  • Support process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management
  • Support the Finance & Accounting team with ad hoc assignments

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a medium-size manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Hands-on bookkeeping, AR/AP, Capex, and general accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and ASPE
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably Oracle
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace
  • Audit experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in Power BI or Tableau is a plus
