About the role
- Associate Software Engineer developing enterprise AML and financial crime technology for Sun Life. Supporting AWS data integration, ETL pipelines, applications, and production operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, maintain, and support enterprise software applications, data integration solutions, and ETL/data pipelines
- Analyze business and technical requirements and contribute to solution discussions
- Develop and maintain code, scripts, automation tools, and data integration components
- Develop, test, schedule, and monitor ETL/data pipelines using Informatica IDMC/IICS or AWS Glue
- Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot ETL/data integration jobs
- Support applications and data pipelines for AML monitoring, financial crime investigations, regulatory reporting, and data management
- Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting across relational databases and cloud data platforms
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Provide application support, incident resolution, and troubleshooting
- Support system and project documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and change management standards
- Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and continuous improvement
- Participate in rotational on-call support for production systems as required
Requirements
- Foundational knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or similar
- Basic understanding of SQL, relational databases, and data manipulation concepts
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services through internships, co-op placements, academic projects, or professional experience
- Experience with AWS environments, including AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, or related cloud data and integration services
- Exposure to ETL/data integration concepts and AWS Glue, Informatica IDMC/IICS, or similar platforms
- Exposure to batch processing, job scheduling, workflow orchestration, or ETL monitoring concepts
- Exposure to data extraction, transformation, loading, validation, reconciliation, and error handling
- Exposure to scripting, automation, or API development, such as PowerShell or shell scripting
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle concepts, Agile, and DevOps
- Experience with APIs, integrations, and enterprise systems is an asset
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms, or modern DevOps practices is an asset
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Attention to detail when validating data, documenting issues, and supporting production systems
