About the role

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and coach development advisors during their first four years under contract
  • Source candidates through community contacts, centers of influence, and other referral sources
  • Support candidates with onboarding, licensing education, market identification, business planning, and joint appointments with clients
  • Actively oversee the implementation of onboarding plans for new advisors
  • Deliver training on product knowledge, the sales process, and pre- and post-sale support
  • Develop advisors’ skills in prospecting, comprehensive solutions, cross-selling, the sales cycle, and business management
  • Help advisors achieve their financial and strategic objectives
  • Collaborate with Head Office Centres of Excellence
  • Monitor activities, conduct follow-ups, and analyze business-practice data
  • Oversee the measures required to ensure operational compliance
  • Verify advisors’ training, registration, licensing, and product suitability assessments
  • Escalate complaints, including assessments and investigations
  • Ensure advisors’ conduct complies with their contracts
  • Achieve key recruitment and production metrics
  • Foster a positive culture and strong relationships across the district through events, recognition programs, and meetings
  • Build a community presence for Sun Life and local advisors through events, activities, and sponsorships
  • Report to the District Director and collaborate with district and regional teams

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry
  • Valid life insurance licence in the province where the district is located
  • Valid mutual funds licence, or obtain the licence within the first 90 days
  • Successfully complete the Branch Managers’ Course examination within the first 6 months
  • Sufficient experience to register as a mutual fund branch manager with the applicable provincial securities commission
  • In good standing with the applicable regulatory bodies
  • Proficiency with a variety of technology tools, such as Salesforce, financial planning software, and Microsoft applications
  • Business acumen and knowledge of insurance and wealth management products
  • Strong sales management and business development skills
  • Strong prospecting and recruiting skills
  • Mentoring, coaching, and performance management skills
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Previous experience leading sales teams
  • Excellent working knowledge of the regulatory environment
