About the role

  • Business Development Partner recruiting and coaching Sun Life advisors building insurance and wealth practices. Supporting licensing, sales growth, compliance, and district performance.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, train, develop and coach developing advisors during their first four years
  • Help advisors establish their businesses and build holistic financial services practices covering life and health insurance and wealth products
  • Source advisor candidates through community contacts, referrals and centres of influence
  • Support candidates with licensing studies, market identification, business planning and joint client appointments
  • Conduct training on product knowledge, sales processes, and pre- and post-sales support
  • Coach advisors on prospecting, holistic practice development, cross-selling, sales cycles and business management
  • Help advisors achieve sales growth, productivity and client engagement objectives
  • Partner with head office Centre of Excellence teams to support advisors
  • Monitor and track advisor activities and analyze data to generate business insights
  • Oversee compliant operations, training, licensing, registration and product suitability reviews
  • Escalate client complaints and conduct advisor investigations
  • Ensure advisor conduct aligns with the Advisor Agreement
  • Achieve recruiting and production metrics
  • Foster positive district culture through events, recognition programs and meetings
  • Build Sun Life and local advisors’ community presence through events, activities and sponsorships
  • Report to the District Manager and collaborate with district and regional teams

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience within the financial services industry
  • Must hold a valid Life Insurance Agent’s license in the province your District is located
  • Must hold a valid Mutual Fund license or obtain it within the first 90 days
  • Must complete the Branch Manager’s Course Examination and satisfy the experience required to become registered as a mutual fund branch manager with the appropriate provincial securities commission within the first 6 months
  • Must be in good standing with applicable regulators
  • Business acumen, insurance and wealth product knowledge, and understanding of the market, competition and industry
  • Strong sales management and business development skills
  • Strong prospecting and recruitment skills
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, performance management and influencing skills
  • Problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Bilingualism in French and English, oral and written, required
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to support an advisor in defining and accessing their target market
  • Previous experience leading sales teams
  • Goal-oriented and focused on achieving targets
  • Strong working knowledge of the regulatory environment
  • Ability to manage a successful performance management process in a sales culture
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com, financial planning software, and Microsoft applications
