About the role

  • Advanced planning director advising Sun Life clients and sales teams on tax, estate, legal, and financial strategies. Building advisor capability through complex case support, education, and planning tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced tax, legal, estate, and financial planning expertise and advice to EFPS and sales teams
  • Participate in joint field work with EFPS, Advisors, Clients, accountants, and lawyers
  • Identify and promote tax and financial planning opportunities related to estate planning, wealth planning, risk management, and business succession
  • Resolve advanced cases and devise sound Client solutions, including research and direct Client interaction
  • Build EFP and Advisor capability through seminars, workshops, and presentations
  • Deliver and promote sales tools supporting Sun Life products and financial planning concepts
  • Deliver Client seminars and associated materials
  • Maintain current knowledge through research and industry profile-building activities
  • Contribute to the Financial Planning Centre of Excellence through knowledge sharing, process development, tools, and thought leadership
  • Share accountability for large and complex insurance case business and technical content and education

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of personal and corporate tax and financial planning, executive remuneration, charitable giving, wills, estate and trusts, and business and succession planning
  • Excellent understanding of industry trends and their implications for achieving business objectives
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, including facilitation, training, influencing, and presenting complex topics understandably
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • CPA, LL.B., M. Tax or FCIA designation
  • University degree or equivalent business experience
  • 7 years of financial services experience
  • CFP® or Pl. fin. considered an asset
