About the role

  • Marketing Content Specialist creating advisor-focused content for Sun Life’s financial services and insurance business. Developing clear, audience-focused communications across digital and print channels.

Responsibilities

  • Translate marketing strategies and business objectives into clear, effective content and creative approaches
  • Collaborate with designers, strategy teams and subject matter experts on creative concepts, messaging platforms and content
  • Develop messaging, proof points, tone and calls to action for different audiences, channels and contexts
  • Create communications aligned with Sun Life’s “relentlessly human” brand voice
  • Turn complex business, product and industry information into clear, engaging, audience-appropriate communications
  • Support field communications with timely and actionable messages for sales teams and field audiences
  • Manage content initiatives from brief to delivery, including audiences, channels, requirements, reviewers, timelines and milestones
  • Develop and maintain creative briefs, content plans and workback schedules
  • Connect content across the end-to-end experience and broader content ecosystem
  • Use audience feedback, performance results, insights and testing to strengthen content
  • Act as a content and creative subject-matter expert by challenging briefs and recommending alternative approaches
  • Report to the Manager, Content, Advisor Content & Creative within Distribution & Channel Marketing

Requirements

  • Excellent content development, copywriting and marketing or sales experience
  • Ability to distill advanced industry, business and product concepts into simple, engaging, relatable and audience-appropriate content
  • Ability to generate creative solutions, monitor content and digital trends, apply audience insight and recommend content approaches
  • Ability to develop content for advisors, wholesalers and end investors
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to evolving business and Client priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to consult, influence, build alignment, negotiate, build trust and provide constructive content guidance
  • Ability to leverage AI and other technology tools to scale, automate and enhance content strategy and execution
  • Post-secondary education in marketing, journalism or communication-related field or relevant work experience (nice to have)
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in marketing promotions, content development, content marketing, digital content or related roles with strong copywriting experience (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of financial industry, wealth and insurance concepts (nice to have)
  • Proven experience creating content for social, web and email (nice to have)
  • Thorough understanding of social media platforms, including advertising (nice to have)
  • Previous experience in insurance and financial services (nice to have)
