Mechanical Specialist supporting TC Energy’s natural gas compression assets. Improving equipment reliability, troubleshooting complex issues, and mentoring operations teams across North American energy infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Provide advanced mechanical and technical support to field teams, engineering, and regional management for natural gas compression assets
Deliver technical guidance and hands-on support to Operations Technicians on equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
Liaise between Operations and Technical Services during equipment issue escalation, root cause analysis, and solution implementation
Support incident investigations, equipment failures, and emergency operational challenges
Mentor Operations Technicians through coaching, troubleshooting activities, and knowledge-sharing sessions
Develop and deliver technical presentations, training materials, and best-practice documentation
Support the technical development of Operations Engineers
Analyze equipment performance data and recommend improvements to maintenance strategies, lifecycle plans, and reliability programs
Lead and participate in Root Cause Failure Analyses and recommend corrective and preventative actions
Lead and support cost-benefit analyses, risk assessments, and reliability studies
Promote standardization of equipment, maintenance practices, and operating procedures across facilities
Lead annual Facility Health Assessments for compression facilities and recommend risk mitigation strategies
Contribute to plant maintenance project scope development and Engineering Justifications
Lead and support rollout of new equipment, processes, and procedures, including Management of Change
Provide mechanical expertise during design, construction, commissioning, and operational setup of assets
Identify and share best practices, emerging technologies, and improvement opportunities
Requirements
Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Millwright (Industrial Mechanic), Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Degree
Candidates with a Mechanical Engineering degree must also possess significant practical field experience and hands-on exposure to mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational environments
10+ years of related experience
Proven experience in troubleshooting complex mechanical issues and leading reliability initiatives
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple disciplines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and influence technical teams
Experience supporting natural gas compression equipment reliability
Experience performing root cause failure analysis and benefit/cost analysis
Strong working knowledge of rotating equipment, engines, auxiliaries, lubrication systems, and controls
Complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
Willingness to travel and stay overnight away from home, estimated at 25% of work schedule during peak work periods
Availability for extended work hours outside standard business hours and call-outs as needed
Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based, without restrictions
Successful completion of required background screening, which may include criminal and/or credit checks
